EFCC Drags Okorocha To Court, Accuses Him Of N2.9 Billion Fraud

Controversial former Governor of Imo State, Owelle Rochas Anayo Okorocha, is in the news again.
Okorocha, one of the senators representing Imo State in the National Assembly, was on Monday, February 31, 2021, and in Abuja, charged him with a N2.9 billion fraud allegation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.
Okorocha’s 17-count charge borders on alleged conspiracy with others, including an All Progressives Congress (APC) member and five companies, to steal N2.9 billion public funds. The anti graft agency, led by Abdulrasheed Bawa, filed the charges at the Federal High Court, Abuja.
The other defendants are Anyim Nyerere Chinenye, Naphtali International Limited, Perfect Finish Multi Projects Limited, Consolid Projects Consulting Limited, Pranif International Limited and Legend World Concepts Limited.
Interestingly, the EFCC chose their action to coincide with the ‘Okorocha for President 2023’ declaration event taking place at the International Conference Centre (ICC) Hall, Abuja.
